Mind to Play
2022
How might we ...
support parents in developing their children's 21st-century skills through play while minimizing toy waste?
What I didThe initial idea was to propose a subscription-based bundle consisting of personalized educational programs and toys that would be renewed and returned monthly. However, after performing several user interviews, it turned out that parents would prefer to have more flexibility in terms of time and not be constrained by return deadlines. Even though parents are open to buying second-hand toys, most also expressed concern about returning toys as they don't want to be responsible if components get lost or deteriorate.
Based on the insights from the user research, I modified the service to address these needs by adding two features in the final prototype: the ability to choose different subscription lengths that can be extended at any time and a buyback option that incentivizes users to return the toys in exchange for a voucher code.
